Booking Details

How early do you take reservations?
As long as bookings are reserved based on our minimum night requirement, we can take the reservation at published rates as early as you wish to book.  

What is your minimum stay requirement?
A minimum stay of three nights is required during summer and five nights during winter.  

What do you need to reserve the room?
To secure your booking, a deposit of three nights is required, with the balance due on arrival.

What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations received less than 15 calendar days in advance in summer and less than 30 calendar days in advance in the winter are subject to a 3 night cancellation charge. Cancellations occurring after check-in will forfeit their deposit.  

Which credit cards are accepted?
We accept Visa or MasterCard.  

I am a RCI member; can I check availability and reserve an exchange?
For RCI booking requests, you will need to contact RCI directly for availability and booking.  Additional nights can be reserved directly with the hotel at hotel rates, based on the hotel’s availability.

I am a Crane member, how do I book additional nights?
Crane members are free to reserve additional room nights with the hotel at a special member’s rate.  Please inquire through reservations@thecrane.com.

Travel Information

Do you need a passport to travel to Barbados?  
Yes.  Please note that as of January 08, 2007, all US and Canadian citizens require a passport to re-enter their respective countries.  For more details relating to travel documents, kindly visit www.barbados.org/docs.htm.

How do I get information about things to do during my stay?
With reference to island activities, these arrangements can be made through our Guest Services department during your stay.  The concierge can also arrange spa and beauty treatments, babysitting, restaurant reservations, and in-room grocery delivery.  Please contact them via email at GuestServices@thecrane.com.

Is tap water safe for drinking?  
Yes.

What is the local currency?
The local currency is Barbados dollars (BD$).  The rate of exchange is approximately US$1.00 to BD$2.00. Most establishments will accept notes in the following denominations at a rate close to the current rate of exchange: US Dollar, Pound Sterling, Canadian Dollar, EURO.

Resort Information

What type of development work is going on and will it be noisy?  
Construction is ongoing within the Park Residences on week days from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Elevated noise levels are currently restricted to two days of the week. Please note however that the Residences by the Sea, Historic Residences and public areas such as the beach, new pool complex and restaurants are not affected.

Is the resort wheelchair accessible?
All public areas are wheelchair accessible through the provision of ramps or elevators. There is a glass elevator down to Crane Beach, but note that the Historic Hotel has no elevator.  Our spacious accommodations also offer flexibility for you to easily maneuver around your unit.

Are other restaurants within walking distance?
The Resort offers four restaurants on site – L’Azure (International/Caribbean), Zen (Thai/Japanese), The Carriage House (Poolside Light Grill), D’Onofrio’s (Italian). There are also 2 casual restaurants within walking distance. Other close dining options are located approximately 15-20 minutes away by car.

Does The Crane offer meal plans?
Yes, we offer three types of meal plans. You can purchase the Breakfast Plan, Half Board (breakfast & dinner) or the Full American Plan (breakfast, lunch and dinner). These plans are offered for adults and children. Zen Restaurant is restricted for dinner for persons on half board. Also note that supplement charges will apply to certain items on the menu, special events or holidays and that meal plan rates do not include beverages.

Is there a bank close by?
The closest bank is approximately 5-10 minutes from the hotel, located in the Emerald City Complex, Six Roads, St. Philip. However, Front Desk provides a foreign exchange service for the notes in following currencies: US Dollar, Pound Sterling, Canadian Dollar, EURO, EC Dollar.

Are pets allowed?
The Crane does not offer facilities to accommodate animals.

Hotel Services

How many restaurants do you have and what is the dress code?  
We offer a variety of dining options in our four restaurants –  Zen (elegant), L’Azure (elegantly casual), D’Onofrio’s (casual), and The Carriage House (beachwear).  Please view our Dining page for more details.

Is there WiFi on resort?
There is complimentary access to WiFi in all guest rooms and across the resort - even on Crane Beach.

Does The Crane offer any shuttle service to other places on the Island (Airport, Clubs, Restaurants, or Activity sites); if so, where and how often?
Taxis are readily available on property and can be reserved for your transportation. A shuttle, provided by an external company offers shopping transportation on Thursday mornings to our Capital – Bridgetown. The Crane also offers transportation to the Oistins Fish Fry on Friday nights.

What type of activities do you offer at the Crane?
Our Guest Services Department will be pleased to reserve activities for you off site; on property, our guests typically enjoy relaxing on the beach or around the pool areas.

Do you have a fitness centre?
Within the Crane Village, guests can benefit from a new state-of-the-art fitness centre complete with picturesque views. This facility is equipped with cardio and weight equipment, ideal for ultimate fitness while on vacation. Personal training and yoga is also available by appointment

Do you have entertainment?
Bar 1887, our main cocktail bar features live entertainment on select nights. On Sundays The Crane offers live entertainment during our Gospel Buffet Breakfast and Buffet Lunch in L’Azure. L’Azure, D'Onofrio's and Zen restaurants feature soft piped music.

Do you offer a kids club or baby- sitting service (is babysitting offered in a central location - not in my room)?
Private babysitting services can be arranged at a separate cost, in the comfort of your room. However, we do not offer an organized children’s facility in a central location.

Do you have a spa?
Yes. Two treatment rooms and friendly spa professionals are readily available for those wanting to indulge. You may also request treatments in the privacy of your own room.

How expensive is it to make phone calls from your room?
All local calls are free and calls to most international destinations are also free, including the USA, Canada, UK, Brazil and other Caribbean islands.

In-Room Amenities

Can a fold away bed or crib be placed in my room?
A foldaway bed or crib can be placed in your room for any room category except our Hotel rooms, Suites or Junior Suites.  Cribs are complimentary but there is an additional nightly charge for fold away beds.

Do you offer daily maid service?
Yes

Do the rooms have kitchens?
Junior garden view suites feature mini-kitchens while all other room categories offer a full-sized kitchen, complete with appliances and a full complement of cutlery.  In addition, all rooms except junior suites offer a washer/dryer.

Beach Information

I’ve heard that The Crane is on the Atlantic side of the island; is the beach safe for swimming?
Protected by a natural coral reef just about where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea, Crane Beach boasts one of the best swimming venues on the island of Barbados.  Besides being safe and having a gentle descent from shallow to deep, it's also soft on your feet as there are no sea urchins, stones or coral underneath. However, we are located on the southeast coast of Barbados, where at times the sea current may become strong. Caution should be exercised at all times.
