Development Status
The Crane, known as an idyllic hideaway on the spectacular Southeast Coast since 1887, is continuing its multi-million dollar development and expansion with additional residences coming on stream in December 2009. RECENTLY OPENED: The Crane Village- Several retail stores are now open, including The Crane's General Store, Cave Shepherd for duty-free shopping; Colombian Emeralds for fine jewelry; Tamarind Seed for Barbadian art; Aweipo fine art gallery; and Dingolay, for fun style and fashion.Also open is the Town Hall event and conference centre and a new reception and concierge facility along with bell station.Join us in Bar 1887 for Rum Shop Happy Hour and live entertainment several nights a week! IN PROGRESS: - On full completion The Village will also feature D'Onofrio's Italian restaurant, Ozone fitness centre with two spa treatment rooms, and an ice cream parlour. D'Onofrio's is expected to open by January 2010.
- The Park Apartments - an area of wholly-owned and fractional 1 & 2 bedroom condominiums - this development is ongoing, with 18 units expected to open by Christmas 2009.
Kindly pardon any inconvenience as we work to make your Crane experience a more memorable and enjoyable one. The construction schedule is approximately 8:00am – 5:30pm and there will be an intermittent noise factor, primarily in the area of the Park Apartments. Please note however, that the Historic Hotel and Private Residences as well as public areas such as the beach, Cliff pool complex and restaurants are not affected by construction. COMPLETED TO DATE: To date, The Crane’s development project has resulted in:
- One, two and three-bedroom residence units, bringing total rooms to 202
- The unveiling of a spectacular 1.5 acre multi-cascading pool complex
- The complete refurbishment of the original 1887 resort- Marine Villa
- The opening of the acclaimed Zen- featuring classic Thai and Japanese cuisine, rated #1 for Food in Barbados by the 2009 Zagat Guide to the Best of Barbados
- The restoration of the historic Pavilion Room- now available for wedding receptions and group functions
- The addition of a beach elevator down to the renowned Crane Beach
- Two tennis courts floodlit for evening play
- The unveiling of The Crane Village, with retail shops and facilities open as above.
