Getting Around Barbados

"car

Barbados is a relatively small island that’s fairly easy to get around. Let’s go over some of the ways to easily get around the island.

Car Rental

There are a variety of independent car rental agents in Barbados. At The Crane, we can arrange to have your car rental waiting for you at the airport or the hotel. For more information about pricing, take a look at our vehicle pricing chart.

Shuttle

We offer shuttle services at the Crane. Every Thursday, a shuttle runs to Bridgetown for BDS$10. On Friday, we offer a shuttle to the fish fry at Oistins Bay Gardens.

Taxi

Taxis are easy to spot, as they usually have a taxi sign on their roof and a ‘Z’ on their licence plate. Fares are regulated by the government, but taxis are not metered, so you will have to haggle for a fair price. The rate per kilometer is about BDS$2 and the rate per hour is BDS$50.

Bus

There are three different types of buses in Barbados.

Public transit buses are well-established and travel across the entire island, stopping at popular spots like Harrison’s Cave, Farley Hill National Park, and Bridgetown. The fare is BDS$2, and foreign coins are not accepted. A scenic tour is also offered on Sundays by the Transport Board.

Minibuses are privately run and cost the same as public transit.

Route Taxis have ‘ZR’ on their licence plates and are individually owned minivans, known to drive fast and blast music.
