Requirements for Religious Ceremonies:
Valid passports or original or certified copies of the applicants’ birth certificates.
If either party is widowed, a certified copy of the marriage certificate and death certificate of the deceased spouse will be required.
If either party is divorced, an original Decree Absolute (not the Decree Nisi) is required. If the Decree Absolute is in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by a certified translation.
Application for a marriage license must be made by the bride and groom in person at the Ministry of Home Affairs, 5th Floor, General Post Office Building, Cheapside, Bridgetown, Barbados.
The Crane includes transportation to this office in its wedding packages.
If neither the bride nor the groom is a citizen or resident of Barbados, proof of return to home country will be required.
N.B: We suggest that you clearly state the legal marriage requirements of your nationality in the event that any other documentation is required.
Requirements for Civil Ceremonies:
Should you decide to have a civil ceremony, you will be required to visit the Magistrates Court during the licensing process.
Please note that a strict dress code is in enforced – no sleeveless shirts nor flip flops are allowed.
